BMW (UK) has introduced an updated waste management and recycling programme that will be offered to its entire network of BMW and Mini dealerships and authorised bodyshops.

The programme is designed to provide the dealer network with a fully compliant single service contract for all waste collections.

BMW says the service aims to reduce the amount of workshop waste disposed of in landfill sites to no more than 5%.

Automotive Waste Solutions (AWS), a national waste management company, will run the programme.

It will also take responsibility for supplying the management data required by the Environment Agency on behalf of the dealer or bodyshop.

Steve Nash, director of aftersales at BMW (UK), says: "I believe our new waste management and recycling programme will be welcomed by our dealers and bodyshops. AWS is a leader in its field and is able to provide a cost effective service that offers clear benefits to our network.

“We have also ensured that AWS puts an increased emphasis on the recycling of waste. Not only is this better from an environmental standpoint, but it also avoids the rising costs and environmental impact surrounding hazardous waste and landfill."
