Denso Aftermarket has seen spark plug sales grow 48% following its Japanese Take Away promotion, which ran from March to June.

The company, which estimates its share of the spark plug market at between 5-10% is continuing to target growth in the UK with the aid of more campaigns and promotions, together with a strong face-to-face presence.

“We want steady growth that is sustainable in the long term. We have growth targets but they are realistic,” says Marko Wowczyna, manager of Denso Aftermarket Sales UK.

“We are going for a back to basics approach and the key for us is service. We are listening to what factors want and helping them to sell through to garages. They will also be seeing our reps on a regular basis.”

The company has seen awareness of its brand in the UK aftermarket increase and is now looking to grow its range, which includes air conditioning and rotating electrics.

“The pedigree of Denso is strong due to the OE link and we aim to exploit this with a focus on spark plugs,” says Wowczyna.
