Unipart Automotive is backing a new British Standards Institute (BSI) Kitemark scheme to raise standards in garages.

It is hoped the automotive kitemark will be displayed by garages meeting the new set of BSI standards defining acceptable working practices.

Andrew Daly, automotive marketing director of Unipart Automotive, said: “The BSI Kitemark, the most recognisable quality mark in the UK, will provide motorists with a confidence boost and make choosing a reputable operation simplicity itself.

“The new BSI Kitemark provides effective regulation and consumers will recognise it as a badge of trusted, value-for-money garages. For garage owners it will mean motorists will seek them out, increasing the volume of work and creating loyalty to a trusted business that is local to where they live.”

Unipart Automotive plans nationwide roadshows to explain the benefits to its UCCC service and repair network and the first three UCCCs will be audited by the BSI in the next few weeks.
