Several garages are expected next month to announce they can display the new British Standards Institution automotive Kitemark.

In a launch statement, the BSI says: “In the automotive marketplace, customer service is largely unregulated and rip-off car servicing and repairs are reported to cost consumers £4bn every year.

The new Kitemark scheme will provide the revolution in customer care and confidence that the industry has for so long aspired to.”

There is, though, scepticism within the industry about the chances of success. Many concerns are being raised and questions asked.
