NGK UK had to establish a temporary headquarters for several days last month when its base in Hemel Hempsted was caught up in the Buncefield fuel depot disaster.

When emergency services sealed off the surrounding business park, NGK was forced to establish an off-site management centre and office. Remote access to NGK’s ordering processes and telephone reception enabled it to continue receiving orders, although these couldn’t be packaged and dispatched until staff were allowed to return to the building.
