Ford has revised its routine servicing schedule for all cars registered this year.

The company will carry out less work on the first service and alternate services due to the “durability of vehicle components”. Ford said: “With fewer parts now requiring regular checks, it has been possible to reduce workshop labour times.”

This means Ford can reduce the costs of its services. On a Ford Focus 1.6 petrol model, the new service schedule means a saving of £168.95 over a three-year/62,500-mile period.

Service intervals remain at 12 months or 12,500 miles.
