Westover Group has acquired Olympian Motor Group’s dealerships at Bournemouth, New Milton, Salisbury and Blandford.

Olympian went into administration on Wednesday. Grant Thornton was appointed to handle the recievership.

Olympian’s accident repair centre in Bournemouth was not included in the deal, which results in a loss of 20 jobs. However, Westover will be keeping on the remaining 160 Olympian employees.

Westover Group already operate nine new car franchises in the Dorset area supporting Toyota, Nissan, Land Rover, Lexus, Jaguar and Skoda sales and service as well as used cars. Olympian’s current franchises are with Renault, Fiat and Nissan.

Nigel Ruddock of Grant Thornton said: “I am delighted to have achieved a sale of most of the business of Olympian within a week of appointment – a fast sale is always preferable in order to preserve employment and customer confidence.”

Peter Wood of Westover Group added: “We are pleased with the successful outcome of the negotiations; the addition of these dealerships is a logical move for Westover as we already trade successfully in the same geographical areas.”
