Proton and Seat are the latest manufacturers to highlight sales successes on the back of the publication of September new car registration figures.

Proton more than doubled its registrations last month compared to September 2005 and registrations year-on-year are up 57%.

Seat’s year-to-date sales are up 15%, with Leon showing a 49% increase compared to 2005.

SMMT figures for the whole of the market show a fall in year-to-date registrations of 3.5% to 1.9 million units in 2006.
