Cars built in the UK have retained their crown as the most reliable and affordable.

The Honda Accord and Civic finished first and second in a reliability test. Other British-made motors in the top 10 were the Nissan Micra, the Jaguar X-type and the MINI. But versions of the Land Rover were in the bottom 10 of the 111 models surveyed, along with the Jaguar XK8. The most unreliable model was the Renault Espace.

Honda was the most reliable and affordable manufacturer followed by Lexus, MINI, Nissan and Toyota. As in last year’s survey, Land Rover finished bottom of the makers’ list. A total of 38,000 vehicles were surveyed by What Car? and Warranty Direct with an average age of 4.9 years.
