Volkswagen has replaced its entry trim level , SE, with the new Match.

The Golf Match is priced from £14,995 on-the-road, £380 less than the SE.

The new trim includes 15-inch ‘canberra’ 10-spoke alloy wheels joined by body-coloured bumpers and side rubbing strips and door handles.

The interior gets a three-spoke, leather trimmed steering wheel incorporating controls for the multifunction computer and stereo, MP3 player connectivity and eight-sepaker CD stereo system.

This is on top of the Golf’s standard equipment which includes ABS, ESP, twin front, side and curtain airbags and remote central locking with alarm.

The Match is expected to account for over a third of all Golf models sold. As with the SE model the new Match will be available in a five-door bodystyle only and slots into the range between the S and Sport trim levels.
