Nissan has ended production of its Almera at its Sunderland plant.

The Almera was on sale for six years and Nissan produced 693,000 units. It has been replaced by the Note and Qashqai.

Trevor Mann, vice president of manufacturing at Nissan UK, said: “Since its launch, the Almera has been very important in supporting Nissan’s sales targets right across Europe and further afield, most recently in Russia where it has proved extremely popular.

“However, Nissan is now pursuing a new product strategy in Europe by offering the customer more unique, individual models that aren't limited by the traditional market segments.”
