Audatex has increased its claimed status as providers of the most comprehensive estimating system by adding Kia to the number of manufacturers covered by its computer software.

The AudaEnterprise estimating programme now covers 34 manufacturers, 489 models and an incredible 141,757 derivatives. The system covers 97% of the national vehicle car parc.

Paul Tucker, chief executive officer of Audatex UK says: “We are delighted that Kia Motors has agreed to work with us to supply timely data for their model range. We see this as a major win for our customers as Kia’s market share continues to grow.”

Work began recently on an audit protocol for vehicle manufacturer times used by Audatex.

Although it is likely to be a complex process because of the multiplicity of data sources and differential protocols used by vehicle manufacturers, Audatex is working with independent auditors EAST to find a positive outcome.

Audatex’s advisory board, which comprises insurers, car makers and repairers, has announced the formation of a technical committee. Its role will be to look at items, processes and materials that are not included within manufacturer data and which are required by insurers and repairers to generate a comprehensive estimate. Audatex has launched a global initiative for improving the data clarity by setting up an international transparency committee.

The next big challenge for estimating systems providers is to link estimating data to repair methods. Earlier this year Solera, a US-based insurance claims company, and GTCAR Golder Rauner, a private equity firm, completed the joint acquisition of Audatex from Automatic Data Processing.
