A shortage of quality nearly new vehicles in the market is keeping RVs strong through the summer and causing uplift in demand from dealers looking for new sources of stock, says vehicle remarketing solutions (vrs).

The remarketing company claims that traffic to its website is 10% above the seasonal norm with 20% of its national customer base of over 6,500 dealers having searched or requested stock in June and July.

The company is seeing stronger residuals for a range of vehicles in the super-mini and mini-MPV sectors with prices of vehicles worth £8,000 or less consistently exceeding both Glasses and CAP.

Jacqui Le Put, vrs sales and marketing director, said: "Our national database of buyers reached a record of over 6,500 earlier this year. Dealers are becoming ever more familiar with sourcing stock from direct remarketing companies such as ours.

"We have seen a significant uplift in requests for stock in what is normally a quiet time of year and would encourage manufacturers and large fleet operators to think carefully about their routes to market. Finding the right mix of channels can pay higher than usual dividends at the moment, as our customers are already finding out."
