Heyday (related to Age Concern) has taken the government to Court over the implementation of the new Age Discrimination Regulations.

Heyday argue that to allow forced retirement at 65 goes against the European Equal Treatment Directive but under the UK Regulations it is allowed.

The case has been referred to the European Courts, which inevitably means it will be some considerable time before it is heard.
