Arnold Clark has bought north of England dealer Patterson Motor Group. The acquisition will add around £250m to Arnold Clark’s £2bn turnover.

Patterson has three Ford dealerships and a Seat dealership, and is run by managing director Ashley Winter, previously a Ford National Dealer Council chairman. Winter and finance director Cliff Thornton will stay with the business for six months during the transition, before stepping down.

“The way Arnold Clark works on its customer and staff relationships is very similar to the way we have successfully operated for nearly 100 years,” said Winter.

Patterson Motor Group has represented Ford since 1926. Last year, its four dealerships sold 15,000 new cars and light commercial vehicles in total.
