The RMIF has dismissed speculation published in the last issue of AM (January 12) that it intends to move out of its central London headquarters at Great Portland Street, and adds that it has no plans to close its Rugby NFDA office in Warwickshire, either.

However, the trade association has consolidated the London business, moving staff into two floors and leaving two others empty. It is considering options for the empty floors.

“There is no question of us moving out of London,” says Sue Robinson, director of the RMIF’s National Franchised Dealers Association. “We have been through a lot of change and now we need stability for our staff.

“We have consolidated this building but we have kept the council chamber. There are no plans to move.”

Speculation from one of the RMIF’s council members suggested the association was planning to give up the lease on the London office, with the neighbouring Great Portland Street hospital likely to move in.

The RMIF is looking for a press officer; the role is currently held by Robinson.
