Fiat franchise holder Rockingham Cars has added a Mazda franchise at its Corby site.

The company has another Northamptonshire site in Rushden but that will remain solely Fiat.

Managing director David Hall is confident that the brands are a good fit, saying: “There are few clashes between the marques. Fiat does commercials, Mazda doesn’t apart from a pickup, something Fiat doesn’t offer.

“Mazda are strong on performance cars and have less of a presence in the small car sector, where Fiat excels.”

Rockingham Cars moved to a new 2.8-acre site at the junction of Cockerell Road and Phoenix Parkway, Corby in August last year.

“We realized we had space to take on another franchise,” says Hall. “We expect the addition to take our turnover up from £8m to £10-12m and will appoint six more staff in sales and service roles.”

Rockingham is now the sole Mazda dealer in the locality; one in nearby Kettering closed eight years ago.
