Trading Standards Officers in Ipswich, Suffolk carried out a ‘test purchase’ of a pre-MOT check at Easy Tread Tyres and Exhausts, run by Terrance Akers.

Unfortunately the report was that the car needed two new tyres and a new exhaust before the car would pass an MOT. In fact the car only needed one tyre, the rest of the items were up to MOT standard. Akers was fined £7,000 for two trade descriptions offences.
