BMW’s M3 Coupé, the most powerful road-going M3 the marque has ever produced, will be priced at £50,625 on-the-road when it goes on sale in September.

The 420bhp V8-engined performance car is capable of 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, before going on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. But while engine capacity, cylinder count and output have increased compared to the previous M3’s six-cylinder unit, engineers have managed to reduce engine weight.

BMW claims the new M3 Coupe will do 22.8mpg on the combined cycle, an 8% improvement over the outgoing car.
