Peugeot’s first ‘8’ generation model, the 308, will reach UK customers in September.

The new hatchback will be available with two petrol engines and two diesel engines. However, these will come in 10 different options of power and manual or automatic transmission.

Seven airbags will be fitted as standard. Lane departure warning system, bi-xenon directional headlamps and rear side airbags will be available as options.

Peugeot said the 308 would evolve into a number of different body shapes over the coming months and years including a confirmed “BioFlex” petrol model. There was no mention of the standard C-segment decision for estate, C+C or hot hatch variants.

Prices and specification for the new hatchback are yet to be announced.
