Mazda will offer three petrol engines with its Mazda2 supermini when it goes on sale in the UK on September 8.

Customers will be able to choose from a TS trimmed 1.3-litre 73bhp, a higher-powered 1.3-litre 84bhp with TS2 trim and the top-of the-range Mazda2 Sport trim with a 1.5-litre 101bhp engine.

A 1.4-litre 64bhp diesel engine will join the line-up a few months after the September petrol launch.

Standard equipment on the entry level TS includes 15-inch steel wheels, ABS with brake assist and EBD, driver and front passenger airbags, remote central locking with deadlocks, electric front windows, driver seat height adjust, CD radio with AUX jack and two speakers, Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser and electric door mirrors.

Prices start at £8,499 on-the-road.
