Thatcham will launch the latest version of its Escribe online repair methodology database this summer, with improvements aimed at making the most commonly used information available more quickly after a car is launched.

Announced at the Triple Focus event on June 21, the new system will go live on August 9. Repair methodologies will be made available in three stages, rather than offering all the information together.

The first phase offers information about materials, joining techniques and special equipment, and will be released as the car is launched. This is followed by basic repair methods. The full repair methodology will be uploaded within three months.

Jason Moseley, chief operating officer at Thatcham, said: “Repairers need information about body structures as soon as possible, and this will give them that information.”
