Law: Car selling service fined

The owners of three businesses, Motorlink, Vehiclelink and Vehicles Exchange were recently prosecuted for various offences connected with a service whereby private sellers of cars advertising in magazines were falsely hooked with the promise of several buyers lined up to buy their cars for a fee of £99.99.

The three owners, Barry Nagioff, Clayton John Leathers and Justin David Leathers were prosecuted on 51 charges under the Trade Descriptions Act and Consumer Protection Act. Total fines and costs came to £18,000 and the three were disqualified from running a company for 18 months.
