Mercedes-Benz of Hertfordshire opened its new Stevenage dealership this week, which it hopes will bring a substantial gain in sales and improve the customer experience over the Hitchin site it replaces.

Located in Gunnels Wood Road, close to the A1, the site features a 13-car showroom and 15-ramp workshop, replacing Hitchin’s three-car showroom and five ramps.

New services include MoT testing, tyre fitting and windscreen replacement, all of which can be seen from the customer waiting area. The dealership also has links to a Mercedes-Benz approved bodyshop, allowing customers to come in for estimates and have the repair taken care of for them.

“The main thing we’ve worked on is the customer experience,” says group brand director David Presley. “Whereas before, customers couldn’t park and we couldn’t show all our products, now there’s ample parking and room to show the whole range.

All staff from the Hitchin site have been transferred to Stevenage, while extra positions have been temporarily filled by staff from the Harpenden dealership, which closed last month. The replacement for its Harpenden site opens in the area later this year.
