Toyota has revealed the eighth incarnation of its Land Cruiser V8, which replaces the Amazon in its large-scale SUV range.

It is powered by a new 282bhp 4.5-litre V8 D-4D engine, which is Toyota’s first eight cylinder diesel engine.

Standard equipment includes four-zone climate control air conditioning, full-map satellite navigation, Bluetooth, rear parking monitor, nine-speaker sound system with six-DVD autochanger and leather upholstery. A premium JBL audio system which includes iPod integration and in-car entertainment pack with rear seat DVD monitors are available as options.

The all-wheel drive V8 has space for eight passengers. Second row seats can be folded awat and the two seats in the back row can be folded to the side for more loading space.

Safety features include 14 airbags, pre crash safety system and a new multi-terrain ABS, which automatically adapts braking performance to suit the surface on which the vehicle is travelling.

Launched in the UK on February 15, the Land Cruiser V8 is priced £55,995.
