Interest-free loans to bodyshops that are buying equipment which will reduce carbon emissions have been temporarily suspended.

The Carbon Trust, which offers the loans for items such as spraybooths, insulation and energy-saving lighting, expects to introduce a revised scheme in the next few weeks after reviewing the way that emission savings are calculated.

A spokesman said: “We are undertaking a short review of the processes and procedures used to evaluate loan applications from the spraybooth sector.

A number of spraybooth manufacturers are participating in this review and each has provided valuable and insightful process impr-ovement contributions.”
