There are no plans to close Vauxhall factories in the UK according to the boss of General Motors in Europe.

In an interview with Automotive News Europe GM president Carl-Peter Forster said no factory closures were planned despite the economic downturn which saw GME record a loss of £700 million before tax during the third quarter.

Forster’s words will come as some comfort for Vauxhall workers at Ellesmere Port, near Liverpool after the carmaker announced they may run out of money by the middle of next year.
