Bodyshop welcomes SmartWater Scheme

A £100,00 scheme to catch out thieves has been warmly welcomed by a bodyshop.

Northamptonshire Police is using the funding to give businesss on Welingborough's Finedon Road and Park Farm Industrial Estates SmartWater kits to mark expensive items.

Gardiner Motors director Kevin Gardiner, whose company is on the Finedon Road estate said the idea was "brilliant".

Gardiner said they have 100 cars on the site and although they have 24 hour CCTV people still try to break-in.

SmartWater kits each have a unique traceable code which shows up under ultraviolet light, connecting criminals and items to a theft.
