Motor dealer Alan Frener stole £8,000 from his elderly mother to shore up his failing business.

Police have applied to confiscate money from Frener, who was convicted last week.

The court heard Frener, 62, had been running a car dealership in Wiltshire but when he ran short of cash, he plundered his 85-year-old mother's bank account and used a credit card taken out fraudulently in her name.

In court, Frener had claimed his mother had giveb him permission to use her money but had since turned against him.
