Citroen is promoting its new C5 saloon as ‘unmistakably German’ in a bid to draw comparisons to its German premium car rivals.

The new model’s advertising is set to Wagner’s ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ and shows a swashbuckling duel outside a snowy gothic castle to a traditional Bavarian hofbräuhaus, before joining the Autobahn to Berlin where the C5 pulls up in front of the historic Brandenburg Gates.

Citroen is renowned for its original and memorable adverts. The dancing C4 robot became a cult success - as well as inspiring several other parodies.

The new C5 campaign is playing in cinemas now and will be launched on national television from April 2.
