Welsh manufacturer Stevens Vehicles has launched a £15,000 five-seater electric car and a £12,000+VAT electric van to capitalise on demand for zero emission urban vehicles.

The company in Port Talbot claims the Zecar car has running costs of less than 2p per mile. It has a 56-mile range on a single charge of its lead acid batteries, and a top speed of 56mph.

It is also unveiling the Zevan light commercial vehicle at next week's Commercial Vehicle Show at Birmingham NEC. The 3m long vehicle has a payload of up to 450kg.

Both vehicles have a two year unlimited mileage warranty, and charge from mains electricity.
