General Motors is one of the best places to work in the UK and Ireland, according to the Guardian’s Britain's Top Employers 2008.

Companies included in the publication were judged across a number of categories including pay and benefits, progression and development, work/life balance and company culture for inclusion in the list, which was announced in The Guardian on April 12.

Bill Parfitt, executive director, GM UK & Ireland and managing director of Vauxhall Motors, said: “Our aims for GM in the UK are quite clear. Not only do we want to be number one in the automotive business, we also want to be seen as one of the most dynamic and exciting companies in the UK in which to work and somewhere where you really can contribute. This recognition proves that we are moving in the right direction.”
