Car hire firm Avis has surveyed 2,500 daily rental customers to determine what impact their experience will have on their next car buying decision.

Its study found that of the 105 people typically exposed to each car while on its fleet, 48% in the UK were expecting to buy a car within 12 months.

Of those, 56% said their perception of that particular car brand had improved.

However, only 44% said they were more likely to add the car to their new car shopping list.
