Autotrade news: Changes should cut stocks burden

Federal Mogul is hoping that technological changes within its product ranges will reduce the stocking burden on motor repairers and factors.

It has introduced a Flo-Max filter range under its Champion brand, which uses only 17 oil filters to cover 90% of the UK’s vehicle parc.

It has also launched a flat-blade connection system on its Champion Contact Direct Fit wipers, which is suitable for all three principal OE wiper arm designs.

This allows repairers to halve their current wiper inventory but still be able to service the entire parc of vehicles that use flat-blade wipers.

Jonathan Allen, UK field marketing manager, said the product sales would be “incremental to our existing business” and would cost a slight premium over standard items.

He declined to share his sales targets but said he believed the products would prove popular.

“These will help the larger all-makes garages with large stocks, allowing them to use their storage areas better or lower their investment in stock while getting a high stock turn,” said Allen.
