A new British sports car will debut at London Motorexpo.

The 400bhp two-seat V8 soft top, called the Beira, is built by Norfolk-based Breckland Technology and will cost around £55,000 when it goes on sale in November 2008.

Having considered current green issues, Breckland has developed the Beira to run on liquefied petroleum gas as well as petrol, which means it can drive for 700 miles before refuelling.

It will only be available in left-hand drive, which Mike Rawlings, Breckland director, said "underlines its appeal to enthusiasts in Europe and well beyond."

Beira is powered by General Motor’s LS”, 6-litre V8 engine and will reach 62mph in less than five seconds.

It has a top speed of 155mph.

Rawlings said: “Beira carries on from where Marcos and TVR left off in terms of providing maximum performance for money spent, and real individuality.”
