Trevor Wilkinson, the founder of UK sports car maker TVR, has died at his home in Minorca, aged 85.

Wilkinson unveiled the first TVR in 1949, a two-seater with an alloy body and multi-tubular steels chassis, known as the Mark 1 or the Grantura.

He left the carmaker in 1962 to start another engineering venture specialising in glass fibre construction.
