Fiat Group has said it will close four of its six plants in Italy for three weeks this autumn following a slump in sales.

The temporary halts, which will re-align production with demand, will take place between September and November, affecting factories in Mirafiori, Termini Imerese, Pomigliano and Melfi.

The plants make a variety of models, including Grande Punto, Multipla, and Alfa Romeo models.
