The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is holding a seminar on August 7 for vehicle makers and body builders to discuss changes in the law regarding Whole Vehicle Type Approval.

Europe-wide legislation is being phased in from April 2009 which will require an entire van, truck or trailer to gain a set of approvals that cover the entire vehicle.

The half-day seminar is being held at Volvo Trucks' headquarters in Warwick

Robin Dickeson, manager, commercial vehicle affairs at the SMMT, said: "One of the reasons for that date is the Department for Transport’s formal consultation on the change in law ends on Friday August 22.

"Anyone who is involved in the production and sale of vans, light and heavy trucks and trailers and the registration process needs to understand the implications of Whole Vehicle Type Approval and tell the DfT what they think, before it is too late."
