Ford’s tie up with James Bond means that its new Ka will feature in the next 007 instalment, Quantam of Solace, which hits cinemas on October 31.

Bond girl Camille, played by Olga Kurylenko, will be driving the new Ka in the film and if past Bond films are anything to go by it’s likely to be trashed before the end credits.

Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe's chief operating officer, said: "We are delighted that the launch of the film coincides with the launch of such a significant new model for Ford of Europe."

The special Quantum of Solace Ka was created by Ford of Europe's design team, in collaboration with the movie’s Oscar award-winning production designer, Dennis Gassner.

The Ka's cameo continues Ford of Europe's relationship with the James Bond films, following the debut appearance of the latest Mondeo and the Aston Martin DBS, in the 2006 Bond film, Casino Royale.

Bond will drive the flagship DBS again in Quantum of Solace. A stuntman rolled the £160,000 DBS seven times to break the Guinness world record for 'most cannon roles in a car' in Casino Royale. It is unclear how many DBSs Aston will be providing to the Bond production team this time around.

General Motors will be hitting back with its own product placement in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in June 2009.
