Mini has already confirmed that it will be putting a 4x4 version of the popular city car into production, but here is the first official concept picture.

The concept will be shown at the Paris Motor Show next month and Mini is hoping the new model will tempt new target groups into the brand when it goes on sale in 2010.

The new show star has a single Clubman-esque van door at the back, and goes a stage further with asymmetric rear doors: the right rear door is conventionally hinged while the lefthand side door slides out and back. The rear door has a frameless, retractable window and when open, swivels to one side.

However, it's more likely the production version will have conventional doors when it goes on sale in two year's time.
