A Northern Ireland car dealer has been fined for misselling a vehicle.

Jason Stinson, of JRS Commercials Dungannon, was fined £2000 in a case brought by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment's Trading Standards Service.

The charges related to misselling a Mitsubishi Evo 7 as a manual model to a customer, when in fact it was manufactured by Mitsubishi as an automatic.

The car's hidden history was only revealed when it suffered a mechanical fault.

"Shortly after buying the vehicle it began to make a strange noise, and then a part fell off it", the buyer said.

Stinson was found guilty of two charges under the Trades Description Act 1968.
