Mike Monaghan is stepping down as chief executive of the MVRA.

The move comes as a suprise for many bodyshops and MoT testing centres, as barely three months ago Monaghan had revealed long-term plans for the MVRA to achieve trade association status.

He was keen for the MVRA to rebuild its reputation as an industry body after becoming more known for accident management services since its acquisition by Capita Insurance Services.

Monaghan founded MVRA 20 years ago. In 2002 it was rebranded MVRA from its former name, Motor Vehicle Repairers Association, after Companies House ruled it did not meet all the criteria of a trade association.
