One in two finance directors believes the recession will benefit their business in the long term.

They believe their companies will be leaner and better positioned to take advantage of new products and markets, according to research by accountancy firm Baker Tilly.

Its survey revealed 26% of companies are considering making acquisitions in the next 12 months.

However 35% were concerned about the lack of available finance, and 60% said the late payment of invoices was affecting liquidity.
