Online salvage business Bluecycle has moved into the fleet sector after signing a contract with Motability Operations to remarket its ex-fleet vehicles to dealers.

After a successful six-month pilot, former Motability Operation vehicles will be auctioned online through Bluecycle.
Dealers who have fulfilled criteria set by Bluecycle will be able to buy vehicles online, and will also have an opportunity to sell vehicles through the company’s online auctions.

Guy Spence, Bluecycle managing director, said there is a good fit between the product offered by Motability Operations and its existing customer base, which is interested in acquiring such vehicles.

Spence said: “Bluecycle offers dealers a combination of channels, allowing them to purchase stock as well
as sell, and our business model has proved that you don’t need to kick the tyres. Being online, there are no
boundaries to access. It’s fast and convenient.”

The company, part of Aviva, is keen to diversify and said its entry into the fleet sector complemented its business model within the salvage industry.

Short-term goals include a revised online auction
system to enable greater customer interaction and ease of navigation as well as improved payment administration.

Bluecycle is “keen to enter dialogue with any business across the retail sector”.
