A company which approved aftermarket car security systems has gone into liquidation.

The directors of the Vehicle Systems Installation Board (VSIB) said due to reduced revenues not helped by current economic conditions the company was no longer viable, despite trying to reduce costs.

Founder and director of the VSIB Alan Greenouff said: "It is with considerable regret the VSIB Directors have made this decision.

" We thank the VSIB staff, members, registered installers and contributing manufacturers for the 15 years of supporting the VSIB which has resulted in a significant reduction in vehicle crime levels to the benefit of society."

It is possible the accreditation may continue following interest from third parties about acquiring the company's assets.
