The launch of the smaller Scenic model follows on quickly from the larger seven-seat Grand Scenic which was launched in the UK on May 15.

The UK launch of new Scenic comprises 28 versions across five trim levels: Extreme, Expression, Dynamique, TomTom Edition and Privilège.

There will be six eco² versions with CO2 emissions of 130g/km.

Standard equipment levels include: 4x15W radio RDS CD MP3, air conditioning, ESP, front and rear curtain airbags and TunePoint (for portable music players).

Options include 18-inch alloy wheels, Arkamys audio system six CD changer with Bluetooth, integrated Carminat TomTom, 3D full colour DVD satellite navigation, electric panoramic sunroof and bi-xenon headlights.

Customers will be able to choose from eight engines at launch (three petrol and five diesel), ranging from 86hp to 160bhp.

The new Scenic is available to order now and will hit showrooms from July 17.
