Jaguar cuts 300 production jobs

Jaguar is to axe 300 jobs at its Halewood plant as the company looks to end production of its X-Type.

The voluntary redundancies will be followed by a three-week shutdown which Jaguar has blamed on “ongoing weaknesses in the industry”.

David Smith, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover, said the cuts were necessary to protect the company going forward.
