Mini has created a new entry level First model which will be priced at £10,950.Mini First

The new model will mean a customer can get behind the wheel of a Mini for just under £400 more than the entry level Ford Fiesta. The new price will also make the car a lot more attractive to potential scrappage customers.

Available only in hatch form, the Mini First features the 1.4-litre petrol engine currently found in the Mini One, but with a power output of 75bhp. The Mini First will do 53.3.mpg and has carbon dioxide emissions of 128 g/km.

The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. Minimalism technologies including auto start-stop, brake energy regeneration, variable valve technology and shift point display are also included in the standard package.

Dealers will be able to sell the Mini TLC package which covers service and maintenance for five years at £185.

As for all Minis, customers will be able to personalise their model with a choice of option packages:
