An award-winning Seat dealer has made a £200,000 investment to add a Renault service and new car franchise.

Darlington-based David Penman dealership reopened at the beginning of the month, following a £200,000 refit, which included new workshop facilities.

Darlington has been without an official Renault franchise for more than six months – leaving owners with no choice but to travel further afield for official servicing and spares.

Penman, who has more than 20 years' experience in the motor industry, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing the brand back to the town, creating a number of new jobs in the process.

“I have a personal affinity with Renault, as when I started my career at the age of 17 as a car cleaner, I started at the local Renault dealer.

Established in 1988 and three times winner of the Golden Dealer award, David Penman Cars is one of the longest serving and most successful Seat UK franchises.
