Volvo Cars London (VCL) has been awarded the UK contract to supply vehicles to military personnel based abroad, as well as diplomat and expatriate customers.

The Volvo International Customer Sales Division is split into two sections; one handles ex-pat sales and a separate department sells to embassies in London.

The development comes seven months after the four-site group was formed following a management buy-out from HR Owen. The deal coincides with a £1.3 million investment to refurbish its Colindale showroom with Volvo’s “Next Face” corporate identity.

Tracey Perry, managing director of VCL, said: “We’re well placed with our Chiswick flagship showroom to service the diplomats.

“There are other premium sector competitors going for this business, but we think we will sell 500 units in a year.”

VCL expects 80% of these sales to come from British military personnel based overseas, with a further 20% from diplomats and expatriates based in London.

The dealer group has taken on an additional eight employees.
A dedicated sales executive will work from VCL’s Chiswick showroom for diplomat customers.
